Fuego Derek Hough Dance Shoes : sneakers + Split-Sole

Fuego Dance Shoes Derek Hough

The Fuego Derek Hough shoes were released in May 2025, and this time it’s the launch of two pairs of dance shoes at once.

The renowned dancer Derek Hough, whom we’ll tell you more about in this article, collaborated with the American brand Fuego to develop and offer us, much to our delight, a pair of low-top sneakers + a pair of “split sole” shoes (separated or split sole).

We remember that the Fuego Jade dance shoes were released separately.

Who is Derek Hough?

☑️ Derek is a renowned dancer, actor, choreographer, and singer (quite the multi-talented person!) who practices ballroom dances, including Latin dances.
☑️ He appeared on the show Dancing with the Stars in the United States in 2007 and 2016.
☑️ He won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Choreography in 2013.
☑️ A true Swiss army knife of a man.

The Derek Hough black shoe is slightly heavier than a classic Fuego low-top sneaker and a bit lighter than a high-top dance sneaker.

The shoe features several panels made of different materials, giving it various looks and textures:

  • Patent leather: shiny

  • Full-grain leather: slightly satin

  • Suede: soft matte black

  • Nubuck

  • Suede

All of these materials are vegan, as it happens, this is a vegan dance shoe.

These elements are carefully and tastefully assembled. The patent leather clearly references ballroom dance shoes, couple dancing (but with a more modern style here).

Here is the shoe composition, piece by piece:

This dance shoe allows you to dance on any type of surface (wood, grass, concrete, marley, carpet, etc.) and, of course, features the two famous pivot points, the signature emblem of the Fuego brand.

The insole is sufficiently cushioned for maximum comfort and offers enough support to keep you well grounded. The difference between the heel and the toe is 12mm.

The flexibility of the shoe is moderate (unlike the Split-Sole, of course).

You can use these shoes for all types of dance: Latin dances (Cuban salsa, Puerto Rican salsa, etc.), hip-hop, ballroom dancing, etc.

Discreet, original, and classy, they strike a balance between modernity and tradition.

Derek Hough Split-Sole Dance Shoe

Fuego Derek Hough Split Sole

The “split-sole” is the famous dance shoe with a sole that is split or separated into two parts.

The Split-Sole shoe is THE lightest Fuego shoe, weighing only 198 grams on the scale!

The difference between the insole‘s heel and toe is 12mm.

As with the previously mentioned “low top,” you can wear these Split-Sole shoes on any surface, which means you can dance anywhere!

It carries the same spirit as the Fuego Derek Hough sneaker, in a Split-Sole version, with elegant lines, touches of patent leather, and top-notch comfort! The style is a mix of luxury and finely crafted details, such as the embossed Fuego logo on the heel.

Here is the composition of the Split-Sole:

The arch of the foot is well supported by a neoprene bridge, which prevents the sensation of separation between the two parts, improves the shoe’s flexibility, and creates a seamless line for great precision.

Finally, we, of course, find the two pivot points to facilitate spins and certain direction changes, effortlessly.
